Another Church meeting

Ended another day with another church meeting. We methodists REALLY believe in church meetings. Actually, we did decide (as the church council) to authorize a committee to search for a summer intern to work with our children and youth. That's a good thing. The children and youth departments are always short of volunteers. I'm not sure if there's anything we're doing wrong. Everything I read and hear says this isn't unusual in churches. It can be so discouraging at times.

We started a new kind of Sunday School over a year ago. When our Children's and Youth director left last August, a friend of mine and I took over the children's SS. It's quite a responsibility, even with the two of us working together, we need more people. We are pulling together lessons from a website as well as teaching. I know it's very important and believe in this new kind of SS, but I'm wondering how long we can continue without more help. One of our regular teachers who we could always count on, is probably going to be moving away.

Please pray for us.

Just another day

Today was just another homeschool day. My daughter finished one of her math books. Hurray! I had a few things to do to get ready for jury duty again. Dear husband will be home with the kids tomorrow and for as long as they need me. Did the grocery shopping tonight because I simply had to. We had bare cupboards. . Molly was kind enough to exchange blogs with me. You'll enjoy her blog.

Had to delete the link. Looks like someone else took over with some not nice stuff.

One of our two blue seal point siamese cats, Thai. Posted by Hello

Monday

Had a good day in homeschool today. We're reading throught "The Chronicles of Narnia". Right now we're on "The Dawn Treader". They're both making progress in their reading and math.

Had a meeting at church tonight to continue long range planning for children and youth. I think we're making real progress, but I wish more people were involved. I also wish we were taking a more "family-centered" approach. I've been trying to talk to people about it for years and feel like I'm beating my head against a wall.

I've been called to jury duty and report in the morning.

Sunday

We missed church today. Chris had to work today which is VERY unusual. My son has been running a fever all week. My daughter wasn't feeling well last night either. I didn't have to teach Sunday School today, so we stayed home. I had hoped we could go out to eat after church today, but. . . . guess that won't be happening. Need to study my book for the Christian homekeepers board study. Tried to work on my website earlier, but something is wrong with their server. Maybe it will work later.

Lavena and husband Chris. Posted by Hello

Saturday

Today I'm just trying to catch up on housework. My son has been sick several days and I didn't feel so good yesterday. I'm grateful to have a home and family to serve. I fall so short everyday and yet I'm trusting God to fulfill his promises to make me everything He wants me to be. I hope this blog will help discipline me to write regularly. I love the computer, so the danger is I will spend too much time here at the exclusion of everything else. I must learn self-control and discipline. Isn't that what having a meek and quiet spirit is all about?
